Who? Rising 4th-8th grade
What? Opera Camp! Come learn about how music, dance and drama intersect. Sing choruses from music theatre and children’s opera. Take workshops in costume design, staging, and vocal health. Participate in a vocal master class with a professional singer from the Charlottesville Opera. Experience a theatre workshop and Q&A session with guest artists. Explore the history and stories of Beauty and the Beast and La Boheme by Puccini. Participate in a fun sharing at the end of the week! Come spend a week with friends who also love to sing, dance, act, and perform. After camp ends, meet these same friends for a reunion at performances in the summer at the Charlottesville Opera!
Where? St. Anne’s Belfield School, Learning Village Campus, 799 Faulconer Drive, Charlottesville, VA
When? June 15-19, 2020, Daily 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Mornings will be for vocal warm-ups, mindfulness, yoga for singers, music theory games, and ensemble singing (music theatre pieces and children’s opera choruses).
Afternoons will be for workshops in costume design, vocal health, movement and staging, and visits from guest artists. For selected students, individual vocal work will be available throughout the day.

What to Bring? Students will need to wear comfortable clothes for movement. Bring a water bottle, lunch, and snack each day. Students will need to wear a black t-shirt and black pants/yoga pants/leggings for the final sharing.
Audition? No, an audition is not necessary, just a love of singing and excitement for music, dance, and drama! Students wishing to sing for our guests artists from the Charlottesville Opera will be selected based on experience/interest and coached by a collaborative pianist.
Cost? $350 for non-Mosaic Children’s Choir students; $300 for Mosaic Children’s Choir members
